The 1st Festival of Stories for Children at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School takes place from April 23 to May 7 and is aimed at students from the Kindergartens and 1st cycle of Portimão.

This is an organization of the 11th G class of the Event Organization Technical Course, which is aimed at students from the Kindergartens and 1st cycle of Portimão.

The festival takes place with storytelling sessions that populate the different spaces of the school, narrated by “Contadores do Mago” and by the classes of the Technical Support Course for Children at ESMTG.

In addition to the classes in the technical support course for children, teachers from the D. Martinho Castelo Branco grouping and the Engº Nuno Mergulhão grouping, and technicians from the municipal libraries of São Brás de Alportel and Portimão, participate as accountants.

It is expected that around 1500 children from the various public and private educational establishments in Portimão will participate in the Festival.

The “Contadores do Mago” is a team of accountants from various institutions in the region, created within the scope of the “Contos do Mago” project of the Regional Education Directorate of the Algarve.

They are specialists in narrating orally the ten tales of the homonymous book, by Helena Tapadinhas, a mythology of geological creation, which associates the imaginary with walking routes of environmental interpretation.

The stories narrated by the storytellers or by the students of the child support courses correspond to activities that will be carried out and/or proposals about the natural and historical-cultural heritage of our region.
