Registration for artistic creation residencies at CECAL – Center for Experimentation and Artistic Creation of Loulé, in the former Casa do Pombal, Municipal Park of Loulé, is now open.
This is an initiative of the Municipality that aims to welcome professionals from the perspective of research, experimentation and artistic production, giving them support in production.
All local, regional, national or international persons and/or entities related to the arts and respective areas of artistic work (visual artists, photographers, writers, architects, etc.) can apply for this initiative.
Thus, in a first phase, long-term (from June to August) and short-term (in June and August) residency projects will be developed in the areas of fine arts, photography, video or sound, in a strand that it can be multidisciplinary and projects that operate a reflection or that take as their object of work the plural territory of the Municipality of Loulé will be valued.
A darkroom, two multipurpose rooms/workshops, two cells, a music studio room are spaces that are part of CECAL and will be at the service of artistic residents.
At the end of the creation period, the artists must present a final report on the activities carried out and, if justified, prepare an eventual public presentation, at CECAL, in the exhibition format or otherwise.
Applications must be addressed to the coordination of CECAL, and must include the nature and presentation of the project, curriculum, portfolio and indication of the spaces to be used.
Applications run until March 31, with the evaluation period being during the month of April. The communication of the decision and acceptance takes place between the 1st and the 31st of May.
This Artistic Creation Program arises within the scope of the Central Algarve, co-financed by the PO Algarve 21, and is a network work at the inter-municipal level of articulation between the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, S. Brás de Alportel, Olhão and Tavira.
