Actress and stage director Beatriz Batarda will be the protagonist of the section «Sarau Instável» on the 4th of May. “How to make an actress” will be the motto of this edition, which will take place at the Municipal Library of Silves, at 21 pm.

In this conversation, Beatriz Batarda will revisit her career, training, experience, references and sensibility in the fields of cinema, theater and television (in terms of Portuguese and English realities), and will also talk about three books that marked her life.

Beatriz Batarda was born in 1974, is the daughter of painter Eduardo Batarda and is married to musician and composer Bernardo Sassetti.

He attended the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama, in London, where he graduated in 2000 with the gold medal in the Theater course.

He made his debut in cinema in 1988, in the film “Tempos Difíceis”, by João Botelho, and later participated in several works by Manoel de Oliveira.

His first appearance in the theater was at the hands of directors Luís Miguel Cintra and Diogo Dória, immediately highlighting their talent and versatility in the art of representation.

It was only later, in 2011, that she began her journey as a director, with the play “Azul longe nas Colinas”, by Dennis Potter, presented at the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II.

Throughout her career, and in addition to several nominations and recognitions, she received three Golden Globes, in the category of Best Actress in cinema, in 2003 (“Quaresma”, by José Álvaro Morais) and 2004 (“Noite Escura”, by João Canijo, and “A Costa dos Murmurios”, by Margarida Cardoso).

In 2010 she was decorated by the President of the Republic Cavaco Silva with the degree of Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique.
