Six more stopovers are scheduled for April, starting on the 3rd with the “Seabourn Odyssey” (Seabourn company), which transports 450 passengers and 330 crew members, while on the 5th the Port of Portimão will receive the “Boudica” (Fred Olsen Cruise Lines ), whose capacity is 880 passengers and 329 crew.
On April 14, the “Nieuw Amsterdam” (Holland America Line) is scheduled to stop with 2106 passengers and 929 crew members, and on the 23rd, the “Albatros” (Phoenix Reizen) arrives, which can accommodate 824 passengers and 424 crew.
Finally, on the 25th, the “Silver Spirit” (Silversea) will call at this Cruise Port with 540 passengers and 376 crew, the last stop of the month belonging to the ship “Sea Cloud II” (Sea Cloud Cruises), which transports 94 passengers and 57 crew.
Altogether, these seven first stopovers of the year will bring to the city around 5700 passengers and 2900 crew, with a total of 13 stopovers already scheduled for May.
The Municipality of Portimão once again emphasizes that, «for the Port of Portimão to grow sustainably, some structuring investments under the responsibility of the Central Administration need to be made, such as the extension of the berth, which will allow it to accommodate two large ships simultaneously, the dredging of the establishment of bottoms at ten meters in the bar, navigation channel and maneuvering basin, as well as the acquisition of a tugboat to support operations in port and coastal navigation and the construction of a modern passenger terminal».
