Cook Sebastião Castilho and the team from production company be Ative spent the day at Mercados de Olhão, on the riverside, where they recorded an edition of the television program Mercados da Minha Terra, which premieres in April on the 24Kitchen channel.

Promoting vegetables, fruit or fish and national meats are the objective of the new Mercados da Minha Terra program, which debuts in April on 24 Kitchen, one of the Fox channels.

At the Olhão Markets, where the cook Sebastião Castilho passed today, the 'targets' were tuna, strawberries and xarém, typical products of the area, with which he made Tuna Ceviche with Avocado and Xarém Doce.

“This is a way to promote what is national, to encourage people to buy our products, which are great”, said the cook, who says he likes food and socializing.

He has already been to dozens of markets across the country, where he has always been welcomed. Sebastião Castilho says that “we want to go back to our roots and spread the word about Portuguese”, adding that the target audience for this program is between 25 and 40 years old.

It is these people who increasingly buy the products they need daily at the hypermarket, regardless of their origin. Hence, the concern to encourage them to look at the label and consume what is national.

The cook, who toured the stalls at the fish and fruit markets with a basket in hand, while asking about the characteristics of the products, was buying some of those that would be needed for the preparation of the dishes, such as xarem, dried fruits, strawberries, herbs or tuna.

At the end of the day, he confided to the public that he would later see him cooking in Olhão, that “these markets have a life and energy of their own”, referring to the atmosphere felt throughout the day to live with the people of Olhão.

The Mercados da Minha Terra program (there are 60 episodes of 30 minutes each) consists of setting up a mobile kitchen anywhere to prepare a delicious meal made with the freshest ingredients, freshly bought in any typical Portuguese market.

O SCHEDULE, led by Sebastião Castilho, who was in Olhão on Friday, cooking at the Mercados and Ria Formosa, promises to be a success.
