José Apolinário will take over as chairman of the Board of Directors of Docapesca as of next week.

The former president of the Chamber of Faro until recently, he was Director General of Fisheries, appointed by the PS Government of José Sócrates, but he has now been chosen by the PSD+CDS Government of Passos Coelho to manage the public company responsible for the Portuguese auctions.

The new president of Docapesca doesn't even belong to any of the political families currently in government, as he is a prominent socialist activist, but he has extensive experience in this area of fisheries.

In addition to being Director General for Fisheries, José Apolinário was also Secretary of State for Fisheries in one of the executives led by António Guterres.

O Sul Informação contacted José Apolinário, but he declined to comment on his appointment.

This is not the only appointment by the Government of Passos Coelho of a PS figure to an important post in the public administration. Just this week, Elísio Summavielle, former Secretary of State for Culture in the last government of José Sócrates, was appointed to head the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC), created within the scope of the new structure of the Secretary of State for Culture.
