For some it is the first contact with the machine of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), for others it is just a rekindling of memory and there are even those who accompany the visit just to keep the team spirit alive. In 2012, the usual presentation of services to new academic leaders and the meeting at the beginning of the year with the association's employees also served to try to boost morale.

Last week, the General Direction of AAUAlg paid a visit to all the services that the entity manages, in an initiative to integrate the new elements that is usual, but to which the new directors attach great importance, given the current situation.

«They are thinking of ideas to take advantage of the spaces and material that are not in use», recommended, right at the beginning, the new president of the Pedro Barros association. An advice that is closely linked to the need for AAUAlg to return to the path of financial stability and that ends up justifying the opening of this internal act to the media.

«The intention, today, was to make a guided visit to all association leaders, so that they can get to know the structure of the AAUAlg», Pedro Barros told the Sul Informação, on the sidelines of the visit.

On the same day of the visit of the new association leaders, a meeting was held with all the employees, so that they could “get to know each other and transmit the strategic lines for this year”. It was here that Pedro Barros tried to reassure those who directly depend on AAUAlg, which is also a company.

"We wanted to promote team spirit and convey a message of calm and hope to all employees and say that together we will be able to overcome difficulties and project the Academic Association," he added.

Difficulties that are experienced in the association's accounts, but also in the lives of more and more university students. Perhaps for this reason, one of the points of passage of the delegation was the future Solidarity Store, which should be inaugurated this month in Gambelas and which will allow the purchase of clothing for adults, children and even babies.

In this space, next to the Professional Opportunities Office, where Control D used to work, and the AAUAlg Copy Center, it will also be possible to find school supplies and books, among other things.

The collection of material began a long time ago and the work of sorting and organizing the goods donated to Loja Solidária is well advanced, since the project was launched by the previous direction. It remains to open the store, something that should be done with a special action, yet to be announced.

The new General Management took over during the campaign and reaffirmed last week, on the same day it announced a hole of 400 euros in the association's accounts, that it will do everything to not fire any employee.

The secret to making this project possible may be the mobility of employees, who can start working in a new service, such as the Loja Solidária or the future pedagogical and housing office.
