The Belgian Jurgen Van den Broeck will be the leader of the Lotto team in the next Volta ao Algarve, which takes place between 15 and 19 February, announced the organization of the race.

The cyclist, several times in the top 10 of the final classifications of the Tours a France, Spain and Italy, thus joins names such as the three-time champion of the “Tour”, the Spaniard Alberto Contador (SaxoBank), or the winner of the last “Algarvia”, the German and time trial world champion Tony Martin (Omega).

So far, the presence of 17 teams is confirmed, ten from the first international division – Ag2r La Mondiale (FRA), BMC (USA), Garmin-Cervélo (USA), Lotto-Belisol (BEL), Omega Pharma-QuickStep (BEL) ), Rabobank (HOL), RadioShack-Nissan (LUX), Saxo Bank (DIN), Sky (GBR) and Vacansoleil (HOL) -, three continental professionals – Rusvelo (RUS), Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator (BEL) and UnitedHealthcare ( USA) -, and the four Portuguese continental ones – Efapel-Glassdrive, LA-Antarte-Rota dos Móveis, Onda-Boavista and Tavira-Prio.

The provisional list of entries for the 38th Volta ao Algarve also includes names such as Portuguese Tiago Machado and Nelson Oliveira, German Andreas Kloeden, British Bradley Wiggins, North American Tyler Farrar, Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen.
