He was born in France but soon moved to the Algarve at 13 years old. Also here, he began a career as a vocalist in Entre Aspas. Meanwhile, in 2005, he began a solo journey with “Amores Imperfeitos”, followed by an album of the same name in 2007.

On 7 March, he released “As Pequenas Gavetas do amor”, an album he considers “mature”, and presents it today, Thursday, at Casa do Música, in Porto, this Saturday, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, and on Saturday, the 17th, at Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon.

On the third solo record, Viviane reveals that this is her most personalized album and where she reached the sound she wanted: “of the three solo albums, this is an album that, in fact, reaches the maturity of the sound I've been exploring, a mixture of influences from fado and French musette, with the Portuguese guitar, the accordion…”.

Recently distinguished by UNESCO as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity, Fado is a strong influence for Viviane. “When you think about Portuguese music, you think about Fado. Fado has always been the recognized Portuguese music abroad… Personally, I don't feel like a fado singer, I'm a Fado lover. What I do is not traditional Fado, but it has something of Fado", says the singer to Sul Informação.

It was also this relationship with new approaches to Fado that motivated Viviane to seek partnerships with people with common tastes: Luís Varatojo (from A Naifa), Custódio Castelo or António Zambujo – who are participating in the new album – are people who are also exploring new ones. paths around the style.

“There is room for everything, for traditional Fado and for these new approaches; I find it very interesting what, for example, António Zambujo is doing, singing Fado with touches of Brazilian music and singing from the Alentejo…”, says Viviane.

The lyrics of the new album are another of the attractions of this new work, which among the 12 themes includes poems by – in addition to her own – great Portuguese writers such as Vasco Graça Moura, José Luís Peixoto, Eugénio de Andrade, Fernando Pessoa, Ana Hatherly, Rosa Alice Branco and Ana Luísa Amaral.

“Music has always gone hand in hand with Literature. And in this case it's a compliment – I chose poets I like and great poets. Although I also have my own lyrics, I chose these poems because I would have liked to have written them and they value the songs”, he explains.
