If you live in the municipality of Olhão and someone asks you about your daily mobility habits, don't be scared. The Municipality of Olhão has already launched the Olhão Mobility and Transport Plan (PMTO), the first phase of which consists of a survey among the population of movements made within the municipality.

This survey will be carried out in different ways, with telephone and face-to-face surveys being the main means of contact with the population. What is wanted is “an open and participatory process” that will improve travel within the municipality “on foot, in public transport and in private vehicles”, according to one of the techniques of the Municipality of Olhão linked to the Jaqueline Rosa process.

These surveys will run until December 15th. “Let's ask people what trips they took the day before. If they took their children to school and what path they took, the trip to work and any trips to go shopping. We want to make a picture of the type of trips and reasons, as well as the means used», he revealed to Sul Informação.

Questionnaires will also be made "to drivers and users of public transport". This characterization, stressed Jaqueline Rosa, «will be made throughout the municipality of Olhão».

In the same period, other types of «characterization and diagnosis» actions will be carried out, such as counting vehicles «through visualization», by street teams, and even stop operations, conducted by law enforcement officers, but without involving any type of police oversight.

“At this stage, we want people to collaborate as much as possible with the Chamber when they are approached. Hence this public announcement, so that people do not find the phone calls strange and think they are being victims of a scam», he said.

Anyone who wants to make suggestions or warn of situations that the plan may come to contemplate can do so now. To do this, «just send an email to the City Council of Olhão, which will be forwarded to the team in charge of the project», referred to Jaqueline Rosa.

This does not preclude the PMTO from undergoing other phases of public scrutiny. "After this first phase, the population will be called to know the plan and people will be able to say what they think and suggest changes or additions", he revealed.

The municipality of Olhão wants to have the plan completed in the last quarter of 2012. From that moment on, not only adjustments in public transport timetables are on the table, but also «improving accessibility», with the construction of building not being ruled out. new roads.
