The art of drama is revealed at the Arts and Crafts Center of São Brás de Alportel, on 15th and 16th, Saturday and Sunday, in the Workshop “How to build a creation…of Dramaturgy”, supervised by José Maria Vieira Mendes and Jacinto Lucas Saucer.
Integrated in the Valados Project – Intermunicipal Network of Training and Creation Centres, created within the scope of the Algarve Central partnership, this project aims at the artistic training and creation of an intermunicipal network of Training and Artistic Creation Centers for the Performing Arts, in centers located in the different municipalities included in this network: São Brás de Alportel, Faro, Loulé, Olhão and Tavira.
These training actions are guided by DEVIR/CAPA- Center for Performing Arts of the Algarve and aimed at the general public, in order to stimulate the population's creativity and taste for the creative arts.
This weekend, the São Brasense Arts and Crafts Center opens its doors to renowned theater writers José Maria Vieira Mendes and Jacinto Lucas Pires, who will be responsible for promoting this interesting workshop.
The theater writer and translator José Maria Vieira Mendes has been a member of Teatro de Praga since 2008 and co-responsible for well-known plays such as “Uma Noite de Verão” and “O Avarento”.
His texts have been translated into several languages with productions in Germany, Austria, Brazil or Sweden. In this workshop, the author intends to bring to the scene his last reflections on the Third Age and explore the creation of texts taking into account their practical application in terms of interpretation.
Author of several works, Jacinto Lucas Pires proposes a reflection on the words “it's all in words, words, words. This is what they suggest and hide", which, according to the author, are the basis for a table rehearsal composed of: analysis, discussion, choices, structure of the play, structure of each scene, characters, objective, voice, a restart from from the end, a strong idea and practical problems.
