On the 29th, Saturday, in the morning, the Alportel Museum will host a walking trail followed by a technical meeting on the topic: “The role of research in the decline of the cork oak – perspectives for the future”.

The meeting begins with a walking tour through the cork oak grove, starting at 09:30 am from the Alportel Museum, reserving a second moment, between 11:00 and 13:00, for the technical meeting on the “Role of research in the decline of the cork oak – perspectives for the future” .

Organized by the Rota da Cortiça Association, in partnership with the Portuguese Association of Environmental Engineering – Southern Regional Nucleus (APEA), and with the support of the São Brás de Alportel City Council, this initiative has the participation of about a dozen of specialists in the area, for a joint reflection on the possible causes of the decline of the cork oak and the possibilities of minimizing this impact, in defense of one of the most emblematic trees in the Serra do Caldeirão and in the country.
