Another edition of 'Summer Sports' in Albufeira has come to an end. To mark the closing of the activities that animated this bathing season, were the finals of the Footvolley and Beach Volleyball Tournaments. Hundreds of spectators gathered at Praia dos Pescadores, on the 27th and 28th of August, to watch the exhibition of the best regional duos.

On the last weekend of August, Praia dos Pescadores was the setting for yet another sporting event that brought together hundreds of young people. the finals of Beach Champion Tournament, in Footvolley, and of the Beach Volleyball Circuit, both included in the 13th edition of the “Verão Desportivo Albufeira'11”, were disputed by a total of 140 participants who, throughout the months of July and August, showed their qualities in the different sports. 

In Footvolley, the pair Bruno Xavier and Alexandre occupied the first place on the podium, revalidating the title conquered last year. The second position fell to Miguel Pita and Hêrnani, leaving the third place to Penisga and Coimbra. 

In Beach Volleyball, the triumph ended up smiling to the duo Miguel Vargas and João Costa, followed by André Santos and André Duarte. In third place were Fábio Gonçalves and Ruben Costa. 

Under the motto “Albufeira lives Sport”, the City Council promoted several initiatives this summer. Fitness classess e Hydrogymnastics, actions with inflatables for the youngest to enjoy and Night Walks were some of the modalities of yet another edition of “Summer Sports”. 

Highlight for the participation of 177 people in the last night walk, on August 26, which covered about 6,5 kilometers. Fitness on the beach also had a strong adhesion, with the most attended class having 112 bathers. 

On the next 25th of September, the Municipality will once again organize various sporting activities aimed at the entire population, as part of the celebrations of the World Heart Day.
