The second edition of the Algarve Eco-Marathon will take place in Faro on Sunday the 9th of October.
According to the Chamber of the Algarve capital, the aim is to «continue the commitment of the local authority, Xistarca and Associação Emoção Está no Ar in the affirmation of the city of Faro in the itinerary of the great popular marathons that take place regularly in the big capitals and main tourist centers».
«The outlined strategy is already bearing fruit», guarantees the municipality, in such a way that in this second edition the competition has the enrollment of more than a hundred foreign athletes (75 Spaniards, 15 Swedes and several of other nationalities).
All races included in the program have the start and finish scheduled for the Athletics Track of Faro.
The promoters of this initiative, which also has the support of the Regional Tourism Authority of the Algarve, are "deeply committed to receiving a massive participation of popular athletes, both Portuguese and foreign".
In this second edition, the organization included in the program another Half-Marathon event, a Mini Race ("Fun Run") and a Marathon for two.
«In the Algarve Marathon, all the principles of sustainability and environmental concerns will be safeguarded, in a commitment to a better, more ecological and caring world», also guarantees the Chamber of Faro.

09:00 am – Marathon
10:00 am – Running march included in the IDP's march/race program (6km and 9 km)
10:20 am – Half Marathon
