This Thursday morning, the Portuguese Environment Agency/ARH of the Algarve, in collaboration with the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit of the GNR, started this Thursday morning the controlled dismantling of the cliff at Ninho da Andorinha beach, in Albufeira, due to the imminent risk of collapse, which was detected on the 12th of August.

According to the APA, "collaboration with the UEPS of the Guarda Nacional Republicana is essential as there is no possible access for an excavator, leaving as the only possibility the action of a specialized team from the core search and rescue of collapsed structures of this Unit, similarly to previous collaborations».

This beach, despite not being formally a bathing beach, "has a lot of affluence at this time of year, putting people at risk due to the imminent collapse of the unstable blocks", adds the entity.

In collaboration with the Municipality of Albufeira, the Maritime Police carried out fences to prevent access to the beach, as well as placing danger signs.
