Covid-19: Algarve no longer has new cases, Alentejo has two more

Data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Tuesday, May 19

The number of Covid-19 cases in the Algarve remains at 356, a number that has not changed since Saturday. In Alentejo there are two more cases, with the total rising to 245, according to the epidemiological bulletin of today, May 19, of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Across the country, there are now 29.432 cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic (223 more than yesterday), and 1247 deaths, 16 more than this Monday.

As for the number of people recovered, there are now 6431, just one more of those reported yesterday, the day there was a great growth in this indicator.

In the Algarve and Alentejo, the number of deaths did not change, remaining at 15 and one, respectively. As far as new infections are concerned, the Algarve has not registered any for four days, while the Alentejo is rising again, albeit slightly.

As for hospitalized people, there are now 629, one more than yesterday. Of these, 101 are in intensive care (minus 4).

 

 

By region, this is the distribution of the number of infected, in accumulated numbers since the beginning of the pandemic: North (16.472, plus 76), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (8490, plus 129), Center (3644, plus 16), Algarve (356, the same as yesterday), Alentejo (245, plus 2), Azores (135, no new cases) and Madeira (90, no new cases).

There are, at this moment, 2349 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 25.487 people are under surveillance by the health authorities.

As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 298.501, but 266.720 of those have not been confirmed.
