The village of Paderne travels in time for five days, starting this Saturday. Until January 1st, it is an opportunity to be part of the daily life of a village between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. Dances, performances, food and drink, arts and crafts, will introduce visitors to the habits and customs characteristic of the Middle Ages.

The opening is scheduled for 12:00 today, Saturday, when El Rei de Portugal and the Algarves will announce the opening of the trade and entertainment fair and will order the festivities to last five days.

The old core of the village is thus transformed into a medieval town, with a traditional market, musical parades, parades, fire theaters, auctions, concerts, bailias, historical recreations, arts and crafts demonstrations, medieval delicacies and lots of entertainment.

On the first day of 2020, at 15 pm, the traditional Blessing followed by the Royal Courtship with El Rei portrays again the ceremony of handing over the Donation Letter from Paderne Castle, by D. Dinis, to the Order of Avis.

The event opens at 12:00 pm and closes at 21:00 pm, with the exception of December 31, when it closes at 19:00 pm.

On Sunday, the TVI program “Somos Portugal” will be broadcast live from Paderne. Between 14 pm and 00 pm, presenters Santiago Lagoá, Isabel Figueira and Inês Gutierrez will make known Paderne Medieval to thousands of viewers through reports and interviews, in a continuous six-hour broadcast.

On December 30th, the City Council will provide a bus for those wishing to visit the event. The meeting point is in the car park in front of the court and there will be two departures: one at 11:00 and the other at 12:00. The return will be made at 15:30 and 16:30.
