São Marcos da Serra will once again receive the Folar Fair between the 25th and 27th of March, at Largo da Igreja, between 11:00 and 21:00. The eighteenth edition of the event brings together traditional folk producers, but also other mountain delicacies.
According to the Municipality of Silves, the event «seeks to promote the interior of the county and popular culture, namely in the parish of S. Marcos da Serra, conveying the know-how of local people, their traditions, gastronomy and handicraft and involving agents and representatives of the local community'.
The parish of Silvense is known for making bread and “Folar”, «the most traditional Easter sweet, sweet and scented with cinnamon and fennel, decorated with whole eggs and made from a leavened dough with baker's yeast» , explains the autarchy
The event is organized by the Municipality of Silves, with the support of the local Parish Council, Serrano Futebol Clube, the Humanitarian Association of S. Marcos and the Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo of SB Messines and São Marcos da Serra.
