Portimão riverside area hosts 1st stage of the Pro Skate League

From the 12th to the 14th of April, the riverside area of ​​Portimão hosts the first stage of the Pro Skate League (LPS) 2024. 

According to the Portimão City Council, «more than 150 athletes are expected in Portimão at the start of the National Skateboarding Championship, who will compete in the amateur and professional categories, some of which are of recognized international level».

The LPS has four stages and a final, where the national champions, by category, and the LPS champions will be determined. This cycle of competitions selects athletes for the Portuguese team, with a view to qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

According to Paulo Ribeiro, coordinator of the FPP Skateboarding Committee, «this will be the festival of skateboarding and will reward the effort and dedication of national athletes, fundamental to the evolution that the sport has seen in recent years and which will culminate in the Paris 2024 Olympic project. ».

Registration is free and is open until April 11th here, and interested athletes must register or renew their registration with the FPP.

In addition to the competition itself, LPS is also taking the SKool Tour by Hot Wheels project to Portimão which, between the 8th and 12th of April, will visit ten schools in the municipality, from the 1st and 2nd cycle, with a 'tour' to promote this modality Olympic.

The local stage of the Pro Skate League has the support of the Alentejo and Algarve Skating Association, Instituto Português da Juventude and World Skate, in addition to several sponsors.
