Government: Teachers’ service time recovered over five years

The measure was already foreseen in the Democratic Alliance's electoral program

The Program of the XXIV Constitutional Government foresees the recovery of teachers' service time over five years, accounting annually for 20% of the six years, six months and 23 days.

The measure was already foreseen in the electoral program of the Democratic Alliance (which included the PSD, CDS-PP and PPM) and is now included in the Government Program, delivered today by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pedro Duarte, to the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco.

In a chapter dedicated to education and training, the executive begins by mentioning that the previous Government failed to implement reformist solutions and considers it “imperative to find a response to the fair demands of teachers”.

The response to one of the main demands – the accounting of the six years, six months and 23 days of frozen service still to be recovered – will be given “throughout the legislature, at a rate of 20% per year”, states the document.
