Taxpayers who declared more than 2022 thousand euros in 250 rose 21,69%

The number of households that in 2022 recorded a total gross income above 250 thousand euros was 5.409, an increase of 21,69% compared to the previous year, according to IRS statistical data.

These global IRS statistical data for 2022 have now been made publicly available by the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) and show that while the number of taxpayers with income up to 10 thousand euros gross decreased from 2021 to 2022, in other income levels the trend was of ascent.

The most significant year-on-year growth occurred in taxpayers who earned between 100 thousand and 250 thousand euros (an increase of 18,02%) and above 250 thousand euros (21,69%). In number, however, they continue to represent a tiny portion of the 5.807.704 households that submitted their IRS declaration in 2022.

According to the same data, there were 64.940 taxpayers with income between 100 thousand and 250 thousand euros, with those who earned more than 250 thousand euros totaling 5.409. In practice, these two groups of taxpayers represent, respectively, 1,12% and 0,09% of those who submitted an annual tax return.

In terms of gross income value, taxpayers who earned between 100 thousand and 250 thousand euros reported 8.796 million euros. Those at the level immediately above (more than 250 thousand euros) reported 2.518 million euros. In both cases there are positive year-on-year variations of, respectively, 18,46% and 19,06%.

Together, these two groups of taxpayers represent 9,57% of gross income.

It should be noted that, of the total households with gross income declared in 2022, there are 57,60% (3.345.294) with IRS paid, and for 42,40% of households no IRS value was calculated.

Compared to the previous year, there is a 2,73% increase in households with IRS paid, that is, those who had sufficient income to pay some tax.
