Cláudio Lima re-elected president of PSD/Loulé

In the last legislative elections in Loulé, the PSD was the second most voted political force, behind Chega

Cláudio Lima was re-elected, last Saturday, April 20th, president of the PSD/Loulé, having led the only list that was successful.

Cláudio Lima is 48 years old, and has held various positions in the party over the last 25 years. He was vice-president of the PSD/Loulé on two occasions, vice-president of the Quarteira PSD Nucleus, member of the PSD/Algarve District Financial Audit Commission and since 2022 he has been president of the PSD/Loulé, currently the second largest political structure in the social democrats in the Algarve.

He has accumulated experience in the private sector as a business consultant in accessing community funds, as well as in the area of accounting, an occupation he maintains today.

In the public sector, he served for five years as department director in the Algarve Tourism Region, and was financial and human resources director at Loulé Concelho Global.

He has been a member of the board of directors at the Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists since 2018 and actively participates in the governing bodies of several associations based in the region.

In the last legislative elections in Loulé, the PSD was the second most voted political force, behind Chega.

«We know with a high degree of certainty that, if the ballot paper had not generated so much confusion and errors because of the similarities in the acronym between the Democratic Alliance and another political force, we could have won – even if it had been by a minimal margin. We were, however, ahead of the Socialist Party – which is traditionally the party that contests local elections with us», says Cláudio Lima.

The newly elected President of PSD/Loulé leaves, however, a warning.

«All of this does not comfort us or detract from our focus on our goals. The PSD is a big party and has a responsibility to present solutions that deserve the trust of the vast majority of voters. Internally, this signal has been given, with strong mobilization and support from our activists in Loulé», he considers.

And to support this statement, Cláudio Lima highlights: «we can see that for this internal electoral act, the number of voters increased by 30% compared to 2022. With a single list up for suffrage, it is a clear sign that PSD activists in Loulé they interpret the importance of this moment in a responsible way, giving me the confidence I need for this path that we are now beginning».

Also part of the Political Committee are the vice-presidents Maria de Deus Domingos and José Leal, André Dias as treasurer, João Carlos Santos as secretary and the members João Paulo Sousa (councilman of the Loulé Chamber), Bárbara Amaral Correia, Vânia Guerreiro , Sílvia Martins, Vítor Duro, Deodato João, and José Borges.

José Mendes Bota was elected to the presidency of the Board of the Section Assembly, an unavoidable figure of the PSD and one of the most notable politicians in the Algarve.

The Section Assembly table is also made up of Elsa Pires – vice-president, secretary João Barragão Dias and members Cláudia Mendes and Márcio Rodrigues.

Finally, as Section delegates in the District Assembly, Hélio Espadinha, Gilberto Sousa, Luís Inês, Paulo Bernardo, André Dias, José Leal, Ricardo Proença, Helena Madeira, and Pedro Sá were elected.

Mandates last for two years, ending in 2026, and the inauguration ceremony will take place in May.
