These lectures are free to access

The “Saud'Arte” gatherings, an initiative developed by doctor Juan Rachadell and psychologist Sónia Silva, start on March 26th, with a session at 19pm, at Portimão Hospital.

The first meeting, on the theme «Reading, Communicating and Medical Art now», will be given by doctor João Carlos Carranca, who, in addition to his medical career in the surgical field, is also a writer, having simultaneously worked in the written and over the radio.

The Medical Humanities Project «intends to use Narrative Medicine techniques to improve the experience shared between healthcare providers and users at the Algarve Local Health Unit with the intention of boosting activities in areas that combine the Science and Art of Medicine» , explains the organization.

The Medical Humanities Project, founded in 2022 by a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team, aims to foster the skills of empathy and mutual assistance in the different professional classes of the hospital, among themselves and with the population of the region, with the ultimate objective of improving the experience of health care for workers and users of the Local Health Unit (ULS), through humanizing strategies.

One of the means to achieve these objectives will be the «Saud´Arte» gatherings in the Portimão Hospital Auditorium, always on the last Tuesday of each month, from 19:00 pm to 20:00 pm, with themes framed at the intersection between Art and Science.

These lectures are free to access, open to ULS Algarve professionals, as well as the community and general population, and will also be broadcast online.
