Electric scooters are the only ones authorized in the MotoGP paddock

The objective is to “increasingly reduce the environmental impact” of the MotoGP world championship on the planet

Only electric scooters will be allowed to circulate around the paddock of the circuits in another European season of the MotoGP world championship, the 75th in the history of what is the oldest world motorcycling championship. This will happen at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, this weekend, with the first race.

The objective is to “increasingly reduce the environmental impact” of the MotoGP world championship on the planet.

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is the first circuit in 2024 where the entire city of MotoGP shows, in an absolute debut, its new colors and «along with all the glamor and electrifying atmosphere like in no other motorsport competition on the entire planet, environmental concern is raised to unparalleled levels».

The adoption of electric scooters for travel within the city was already common among riders and teams and now becomes mandatory for everyone, with a fleet of electric models appearing for the first time in the Algarve – three dozen motorcycles –, which will be used by the staff of the prosecutor throughout his stay on the circuit.

The organization adds that many other mobility options are being implemented and will be launched over the coming weekend, such as selective waste collection, use of synthetic fuels, recycling of used tires and food donations.
