Hotel occupancy in the Algarve drops in February compared to 2023

Still, occupancy was higher than in 2019

The occupancy rate per room in accommodation units in the Algarve, in February, was lower than in 2023, but higher than that recorded in the same month of 2019.

The rate recorded last month «was 46,3%, 3,4pp (percentage points) below that seen in 2023 and 3,0pp above that seen in 2019», according to the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA ).

The markets that recorded the highest year-on-year growth were the Dutch, with +1,5pp, the Swedish, with +1,2pp and the German, with +0,8pp.

The biggest drops compared to February 2023 were recorded by the national market (-2,1pp) and the British market (-1,5pp).

«The average stay was 4,6 nights, 0,3 more than in the same month of 2023. The longest average stays were in the Swedish market, with 14,4 nights and in the Norwegian market, with 10,6», he concluded to AHETA.
