Joana Schenker starts the World Bodyboard Circuit with a 5th place in Morocco

Algarve bodyboarder was dissatisfied with the result

Joana Schenker from Algarve was ranked fifth in the Thagazout Bay World Bodyboard, the 1st stage of the 2024 World Bodyboard Circuit, which took place in Thagazout, Morocco on February 26th.

The race was held in the first few days at Anza beach, with the organizers deciding to move the race to the Anchor Point wave in the final days.

The Portuguese athlete, «who in the first days of the race was highlighted by achieving the highest scores in Anza, ended up losing at Anchor point in very difficult conditions (high tide, a lot of current and without any potential to maneuver) in the 1/4 Final man-on-man, for South African Pamela Bowen, finishing the race in 5th place. The winner of the event was the current world champion, Sari Ohhara from Japan», according to the Sagres Bodyboard Association.

«I knew this result shortly, as I was surfing and competing well and focused on getting a great result. Unfortunately due to the tide being very high, current and strong wind Onshore, the conditions under which my heat They were very bad and without potential. I wish I had been able to surf", said Joana Schenker.

The next stage of the circuit goes to Brazil.
