Loulé gymnast Gabriel Albuquerque qualified for the Olympic Games

Loulé Chamber congratulates the young athlete

Loulé gymnast Gabriel Albuquerque guaranteed this Sunday, March 24th, qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games, in the trampoline modality, following the results achieved in the Cottbus World Cup.

In a note sent to newsrooms, Loulé City Council says that it is with “great joy” that it received this news.

The 17-year-old athlete will be in Paris representing Portugal, Loulé and his team, APAGL – Associação de Pais e Amigos da Ginástica de Loulé.

«Gabriel Albuquerque is today one of the national and international references in the Trampoline sport», says the Municipality, which supports the young man through the Sports Development Support Program signed with APAGL and also the specific support measure for high-performance athletes.

 

 

The young man became world champion for age groups in Individual Trampoline, in the years 2019, 2021 and 2022. He was distinguished by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation with the award of the Medal for Good Services and Prize for
Individual Trampoline Athlete of the Year in 2023.

Gabriel Albuquerque is now part of the National Senior Individual Trampoline Team.
