Francisco Campos (AP Hotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC Farense) wins at Póvoa and advances in the Cup

The Portuguese Elite Cup continues next Saturday, the date of the Santo Thyrso Classic, the second scoring event

Francisco Campos (AP Hotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC Farense) won this Sunday, March 3, the Spring Classic, in Póvoa de Varzim, taking the lead in the Portuguese Elite Cup.

The Poveira race, in its 27th edition, maintained the route that has been common in recent years, including seven passes through Monte de S. Félix, in a race 145 kilometers long.

It was a classic with several movements, which contributed to a very high final average. It was, however, the final climb to the hill in the parish of Laúndos that made the final selection, leaving the fight for victory in the legs of a restricted group.

Francisco Campos, the only sprinter to get a place in the eight that contested the triumph, got the better of the competition, crossing the finish line in 3h29m04s (average of 41,610 km/h). Luís Gomes (Kelly-Simoldes-UDO) and Fábio Costa (ABTF Betão-Feirense) completed the podium.

The best under-23 was Duarte Domingues (Sabgal-Anicolor), 15th in the absolute classification. Emanuel Duarte (Credibom-LA Alumínios-Marcos Car) won the mountain classification, Frederico Figueiredo (Sabgal-Anicolor) was first in the flying goals and Sabgal-Anicolor prevailed as a team. The Galicians of Aluminios Cortizo were first among the club teams.

The Portuguese Elite Cup continues next Saturday, the date of the Santo Thyrso Classic, the second scoring event.
