Centenary, Medieval Days and patron saint's festival mark Castro Marim's calendar

Some of the events are already references at national level

The centenary of the Castromarinense Musical Band, the Medieval Days, the festivities in Honor of Our Lady of the Martyrs, or even the festivities in Altura, Odeleite or Azinhal mark the calendar of the municipality of Castro Marim, throughout the year 2024.

The first major celebration is the 100th anniversary of the Banda Musical Castromarinense, with several activities such as an evocative exhibition of its history at Casa do Sal and performances between bands, culminating on Municipality Day, on June 24th, with a joint concert with UHF.

UHF are one of the most recognized Portuguese bands in the country, led by musician and singer António Manuel Ribeiro, also considered the founder of the poet-rock movement in Portugal.

Revelim de Santo António will be the stage for this unique and special anniversary concert, with special arrangements in the repertoire, in symbiosis with the land, in a constructive process and much cherished by the maestro and members of the Banda Musical Castromarinense.

Another major highlight of the year will be the 25th edition of the Castro Marim Medieval Days, where thousands of people are expected to take a trip to the past.

Between August 21st and 25th, the town of Castro Marim goes back in time with one of the biggest medieval events in the country, which promises to go down in history in this special edition and maintain its quality in programming and organization.

On August 15th, Castro Marim once again celebrates the traditional Festival in Honor of Our Lady of the Martyrs, with concerts by Nininho Vaz Maia, from the Algarve Íris and also a revival party from the 80s and 90s.

For Altura, in an improved space, after a great concert dedicated to youth, singer Carolina Deslandes and the band Lucky Duckies take to the stage, with the special participation of the dance group ARUTLA.

The ARUTLA group celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, marking the growth of many young women from the Castro Marim territory and their talent.

There will also be dozens of activities of various genres and for all ages, which will take place from the sea to the mountains, namely in the villages of Odeleite and Azinhal.

Other activities and initiatives are planned at the Castro Marim Municipal Library and Casa do Sal, as is customary throughout the year.
