The Chamber of Faro approved this Monday, March 18th, a vote of condolence for the death of Nuno Júdice, remembering the poet as a «son of the Algarve» and as someone who knew how to «portray the essence and soul of this region».
The municipality says that the poet's death, which occurred this Sunday, the 17th, «leaves an irremediable gap not only in national literature, but also in the hearts of all those who recognize and appreciate the grandeur of his work».
«Nuno Júdice, son of the Algarve, knew how few others could portray the essence and soul of this region that saw him born. His poetic legacy is an immortal testimony to the landscapes and stories intertwined in the Algarve alleys. With verses that resonate, Júdice elevated the beauty and uniqueness of this region that so deeply inspired him,” he adds.
«Throughout his life, Nuno Júdice not only honored his Algarve roots in the pages of his books, but also tirelessly contributed to cultural projects that enriched the lives of Faro. With a generous spirit, he dedicated himself to initiatives that promoted literature, art and culture, leaving a legacy that will last for generations», it also reads.
