The Aljezur City Council launched the awareness campaign “Drop by drop for a better future” calling for «to save water, at a time when the Algarve is going through a serious period of drought and water scarcity», it announced to the municipality.

The municipality intends to «reinforce awareness of the importance of combating water waste, through a set of education and environmental awareness initiatives, both face-to-face and digital, aimed at the general population and the school community».

One of them is the Environmental Education Activity Plan for 2024 of the Professora Piedade Matoso Group of Schools, "which includes awareness-raising actions on the topic of water, theater plays to be performed in the Ribeiras de Aljezur and Odeceixe, lectures, among others" .

«Throughout the municipality of Aljezur, tarps were placed, with information on small sustainable habits to adopt, such as reducing time in the shower and regularly turning off the tap, and leaflets were distributed with tips aimed at the entire population, calling for the adoption of simple gestures, which can make all the difference in saving water», according to Aljezur City Council.

The municipal executive «hopes with this campaign to raise awareness among the community, promote behavioral changes in the use of water and ensure conscious and sustainable consumption, as only with joint action from everyone can we preserve this very valuable resource».
