Volta ao Algarve: Remco Evenepoel wins the race for the third time

Tour of the Algarve ended today

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) today won the Tour of the Algarve on a bicycle for the third time, repeating his successes from 2020 and 2022, after finishing second at the top of Malhão, in Loulé, behind his predecessor Daniel Martínez (BORA-hansgrohe) .

Belgian Remco Evenepoel held on to the lead, achieved in Saturday's time trial, with second place in the fifth and final stage, which started from Faro, with the same time as the winner, Colombian Daniel Martínez, who was defending the title won in 2023.

Evenepoel, 24 years old, finished the race 43 seconds ahead of Martínez, equaling the feat of Portuguese Belmiro Silva who won the 1977, 1981 and 1984 editions.
