Tour of the Algarve: Daniel Martínez wins in Fóia and wears yellow

On Friday, the third stage takes place, connecting Vila Real de Santo António to Tavira

Colombian cyclist Daniel Martínez (BORA-hansgrohe), winner in 2023, took the lead today in the Volta ao Algarve, after winning the second stage, which ended in Alto da Fóia.

Upon arrival at the highest point in the Algarve, in the municipality of Monchique, Martínez won in 4:40.20 hours, the same time as the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and six seconds ahead of the North American Sepp Kuss ( Visma-Lease a Bike).

Overall, Martínez has a four-second advantage over Evenepoel, winner of the 'Algarvia' in 2020 and 2021, and 12 over Kuss, who triumphed in the last Tour of Spain.
