Strong wind and sea disturbances place Algarve and Baixo Alentejo under yellow warning

Tomorrow and Tuesday

The Algarve and Baixo Alentejo will be under a yellow meteorological warning tomorrow and Tuesday due to strong winds and sea disturbances, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The warning due to the forecast of “northwest waves with 4 to 5 meters” on the west coast is valid from 00:00 tomorrow, the 26th, and 12:00 pm on the 27th, Tuesday, for both regions.

From 9:00 am on the 26th and until 3:00 am on the 27th, a warning is in effect due to strong winds, both in the district of Faro, as in Beja.

In the Barlavento Algarvio, «northwest winds are expected, with gusts of up to 75 km/h, especially on the west coast, and can reach 85 km/h in the Monchique mountains».

In Baixo Alentejo, the warning is due to «northwest wind, with gusts of up to 75 km/h on the coast and in the mountains».
