Requalification of the Paraíso – Ferreiras road is in the final stretch

Municipality invested 850 thousand euros in this project

The project to requalify the Paraíso – Ferreiras road is practically completed, according to the Albufeira City Council this Friday, February 2nd.

According to the municipality, this is «a complex work» that consisted of the repaving of several streets, namely Estrada do Paraíso, Rua das Escolas and Rua do Mercado, over a total length of approximately 1500 meters and which involved an investment on the part of the Municipality, in the order of 850 thousand euros.

The contract also included the improvement and increase in the length of sidewalks in all areas covered by the work.

According to the municipality, «during the course of the work, there was a need to carry out traffic restrictions for three weeks, with the implementation of detours and changes in traffic directions», and in the section of Estrada do Paraíso, between junction with Rua da Nora and the junction with Caminho do Paraíso, circulation is only in the north-south direction.

Albufeira City Council also informs that on line 5, stop 1346 – Estrada Paraíso (Farmácia), users must go to the nearest stop (5574 – Mercado Ferreiras).

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, highlights that «the present intervention will allow circulation
road and pedestrian traffic is carried out in a safer manner, due to the placement of a new pavement on the roadway,
requalification of the Fair grounds, the regularization of the sidewalks, with the need to rectify the changes
caused by tree roots and various collapses, and the requalification of walkways».

President José Carlos Rolo also states that the works always cause inconvenience, but that in the end “it is worth it for the benefits they bring and for the well-being of the population”.

«We are working to improve the municipality and we will do everything to better serve those who live here and those who visit us», he concludes.
