The winners of the 2024 Algarve Architecture Award are now known

Em Faro, Tavira and Albufeira

Two projects in the municipality of Faro, a building in Tavira and another in Albufeira won the different categories of the Algarve Architecture Award, whose award ceremony took place on the 24th of February, at Lagos City Hall

In this 3rd edition of the initiative, four prizes were awarded in the categories “Equipment, Commerce and Industry”, “Heritage and Rehabilitation”, “Architecture and Landscape” and “Single or Two-Family Housing”, and an honorable mention in the latter category.

Two of the first prizes went to works carried out in the municipality of Faro, namely the “Requalification of Mata do Liceu”, located next to the João de Deus Secondary School, designed by the Loff office, Landscape Office (1st in the Architecture and Landscape category) and the “Casa 1923”, also located in the city, designed by from the PAr Plataforma de Arquitectura office (1st prize in the Heritage and Rehabilitation category)

Still in the county of Faro, “Casa Luum”, in the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, designed by Pedro Domingos Arquitetos, obtained an Honorable Mention in the Single or Two-Family House category.

This last category had Casa Don'Ana, in Tavira, as the winner.

 

 

In the “Equipment, Services and Industry” category, the winner was the Albufeira Arts and Crafts Center.

The Algarve Architecture Prize is awarded annually by the Algarve Regional Section of the Order of Architects.

It aims to reward the authors of built works, public or private, with the objective of promoting the quality of architecture and landscape in the region.

The winners of each category receive 2 thousand euros and the jury is made up of professionals in the field.

The award includes several categories, and in this edition, all works completed between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023 (5 years), with a use license issued, or, in the case of public works , with document proving its provisional reception.
