Man on the run detained in Loulé since December

For several high-value thefts in the Algarve region

A 36-year-old man who had been on the run since December 2023, and who had been ordered into preventive detention for qualified theft, was arrested this Wednesday, February 21, in Loulé.

As part of an investigation, which began in March last year, into several high-value thefts in the Algarve region, the GNR identified the suspect in June, who was later brought to court and subject to preventive detention.

According to the military, in September of the same year the man began a therapeutic treatment program where he was supposed to remain until December, but he did not follow the rules and ended up running away.

That month, the GNR located the suspect, but only managed to detain him now.

The man was present again in the Judicial Court of Faro, where the coercion measure of preventive detention was ordered, and he was then sent to the prison.
