Event lasts two days

Debating the challenges, but also the solutions for the sustainable development of the interior, is the objective of another Rural World Days, which will take place on the 29th of February and the 1st of March, at Espaço Guadiana, in Alcoutim.

For two days, experts, authorities and the community will “discuss the challenges and opportunities of rural areas” and address topics that are on the agenda, including water, but also ecosystems and landscape, agroforestry systems and the climate and hunting.

The Opening Session, scheduled for 9:30 am on February 29th, will be attended by Osvaldo Gonçalves and Mário Tomé, presidents of the Chamber of Alcoutim and Mértola, respectively, and José Apolinário, president of the Coordination and Development Committee Algarve Regional.

This will be followed by the “Water” panel, scheduled for 10 am, in which «experts will discuss the challenges and strategies for the sustainable management of water resources», according to Alcoutim City Council.

At 15 pm, a new panel will take place, in this case on “Ecosystems and Landscape”, where “issues related to the preservation of ecosystems and landscapes” will be discussed.

The following day, March 1st, the panel “Agroforestry and Climate”, where we will talk about «agroforestry practices and their relationship with climate change», starts at 9:30 am.

At 15pm, a panel on “Hunting” will take place, where “issues related to hunting management will be discussed, including rabbit diseases and the signing of the protocol between the municipality and the Associative Hunting Zones”.

«The event, organized in partnership with several local and national entities, aims to promote constructive discussion and the search for solutions to the challenges faced by the rural world. The participation of representatives from different sectors and those interested in the sustainable development of the region is expected», according to the Alcoutim Chamber.
