Last January 26th

The Municipality of Silves awarded the prizes for the “Water Efficiency at School” competition, on the 26th of January.

The awarding of prizes for the competition, resulting from the collaboration protocol between the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and the Municipality of Silves, took place in the Salão Nobre of the Town Hall and was attended by the mayor Rosa Palma, the deputy president Luísa Conduto, the director of the Silves School Group António Condessa and the director of the Silves Sul School Group Carlos Silva.

As part of this competition, the EB 2,3 João de Deus School received two honorable mentions, in the Monitoring Category and the Enxerim Kindergarten, in the Action Category, both worth 1500 euros.

The Algoz Kindergarten received the prize worth 5 thousand euros, also in the Action Category.

The main objective of the “Water Efficiency at School” competition was to “raise awareness and mobilize the school community, in partnership with the Municipality of Silves, the water services management entity, regarding the need to monitor water consumption, whilst simultaneously promoting the implementation of best practices for its efficient use, developed by APA – ARH Algarve within the scope of the Algarve Water Efficiency Plan", says the municipality.
