Ferragudo Sea Scout Headquarters will finally be built

This is an old dream of the Scout group

The headquarters of the Ferragudo Maritime Scouts will finally be built, after the protocol signed on December 16th, between the Municipality of Lagoa, the Ferragudo Parish Church Factory and the Parish Council of this location.

This is an old dream of the group, which has long called for “better conditions for the development of its activity, namely a headquarters to welcome the children and young people” who make up its membership.

In the collaboration protocol signed, it is up to Câmara de Lagoa to financially support the costs of the architectural project and all legally required specialties, for the construction of the building, as well as the cost of carrying out the work, through a subsidy allocated to Fábrica da Igreja Ferragudo Parish, worth 150 thousand euros, as well as technical support.

The Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial de Ferragudo provides the land where the scout headquarters will be built, located in the Churchyard of Ferragudo, previously occupied by the cemetery and, later, with a playground, and for a long time in a deep state of disrepair. degradation.

The Ferragudo Parish Council, in turn, is responsible for supporting the transformation of this land into an area for public use, through the construction of the headquarters.

The Ferragudo Maritime Scout Group currently has around 100 members, being the largest in the municipality and the largest in the Algarve region.

He has been carrying out his activities for many years in various spaces located in the town of Ferragudo, practically walking with “the house on his back” to achieve them.

“It is with great satisfaction that we have taken this important step to offer the necessary conditions so that the Ferragudo Maritime Scout Group continues to develop its activities in an extraordinary way, contributing decisively to the education of the men and women of tomorrow”, he considered the president of Lagoa City Council, Luís Encarnação.
