Wind energy production in Portugal reached a new historic high on Tuesday at 17:30 pm, with a peak of 4.917 megawatts (MW), reported this Thursday, January 18, REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais.
According to the electricity network manager, the value recorded corresponded to 63% of national electricity consumption at that time.
On that day, electricity consumption totaled 167 gigawatts (GWh), with a peak of 8.553 MW at 19:30 pm, and renewable production supplied 88% of national consumption and the export balance, with wind power standing out with 42%.
The previous maximum recorded by the National Electric System had been reached on October 17th of last year, at 2:30 am, with a production of 4.843 MW, the company said in a statement.
