Preventive detention for 27-year-old man arrested for robberies and theft in Portimão

Investigation is in charge of the PSP of Portimão

The 27-year-old man who was arrested last Monday, January 8, for crimes of robbery and theft registered in Portimão was remanded in pre-trial detention.

The information was released this Thursday, 11th, by the District of Faro.

the defendant, present at the first judicial interrogation, is accused of committing a crime of robbery, a crime of attempted robbery and a crime of attempted qualified robbery.

According to the District of Faro, on December 27, 2023, at a bus stop, around 15:15 pm, in Portimão, the man, «using a strong pull», stole a bag of money from an 87-year-old woman.

On the 4th of January, on the public road, at around 13:30 pm, in Portimão, he “used physical force” to steal a computer that a 25-year-old man was carrying in his hand – “only having failed to take possession of it due to the resistance that the victim objected", says the District.

Furthermore, on the same day, the detainee broke the window of a car showroom, entered the administrative services space, took the keys from the vehicles on display «and with one of them he tried to activate the ignition of a Ford Raptor», «just not having managed to do so because he didn’t know how to unlock the vehicle’s security system.”

The Public Prosecutor's Office requested and the coercion measure of preventive detention was applied to the detainee.

The investigation is in charge of the PSP of Portimão.
