Albufeira's New Year's Eve achieved "the objectives" set out and brought together around 350 thousand people, with "no recorded accidents". The assessment is made by mayor José Carlos Rolo, who guarantees that the “Albufeira Carpe Nox” program “is to continue”.

Even so, this success forces us to “rethink” the “next editions with other criteria, as physical space is limited”.

«Continuing this growth in demand leads us to think about new strategies», he said.

Regarding another great year-end event, the “Medieval Paderne”, José Carlos Rolo expresses his satisfaction, as it is “an annual event that has already conquered its space in the lives of those who live here and those who visit us”.

«Never Paderne, throughout the year, has as many visitors to its festivities and actions, as in Medieval Paderne. It is a family-oriented action, based on historical data with a lot of creativity mixed in, and comes to make up for the absence of an entertainment program for families at this time of year. Over the four days, more than seven thousand people came to our village», he said.

One of the big news of the most recent 'New Year's Eve' in Albufeira was the 1st edition of the 'street food' festival, entitled “Street Food – Without Borders”.

Nuno Bergonse was the 'chef' responsible, and all spaces had visitors, giving the opportunity to try delicacies from around the world.

«The best street food was here in Albufeira, which helped attract more people. It's a very positive assessment, what I make of this first edition», says José Carlos Rolo.

The musical lineup featured shows by Richie Campbell, The Gift, Amália Hoje, Dj Rita Mendes and a fireworks show.

The year 2024 also started with a “Pop’Art Parade” on Avenida Sá Carneiro.

«Safety, joy and the promise of returning to Albufeira is enough for us to feel that it was an excellent investment in people, whether from a personal, family point of view, or from tourist companies and local commerce», the mayor also says.

Along with tourists, residents of the municipality also expressed their satisfaction with the program organized by the Municipality of Albufeira, which also included the 1st edition of S. Silvestre Algarve – Albufeira, with the participation of more than a thousand athletes.

Alexandre Nobre was the big winner in this pre-season for the triathlete, who continued to stand out as one of the best runners in the national triathlon, and thus leaves another excellent indicator for his 2024 season.

With around 400 athletes finishing, Alexandre Nobre finished in 27m46s, ahead of Moroccan Mourad Dafali (27m59s) and German Killian Shreiner (28m01s) with Portuguese Duarte Cunha (28m10s) and Daniel Martins (28m23s) completing the top five.

«It was a very special moment, this S. Silvestre Algarve-Albufeira, with a lot of adrenaline and emotion and, as I already mentioned in a meeting with the press, it is an event in which we will continue to invest and I hope with new features, namely the expansion of S. . Silvestre to children, in the 2024 edition", concludes the mayor.
