The HPA Saúde Group organizes, on the 16th of March, the XNUMXst Algarve Dermato-Oncology Meeting, at the Hotel Eva Senses, in Faro.
This event's main objective is to bring together a team of professionals who, in their area of specialization, will address the most recent topics in skin cancer, from diagnosis to therapeutic intervention, whether surgical or pharmacological.
The 1st Algarve Dermato-Oncology Meeting will feature presentations from dermatologists and oncologists, but surgeons and radiation oncologists will also be present. Most of these clinicians come from the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Lisbon and the HPA Saúde Group, but also from other national and international reference centers.
According to the latest data from the Regional Oncology Report, skin cancer was the fifth most common type of cancer, with the highest value when comparing by regions, being observed in the Algarve.
The wider annual sun exposure, as well as the important presence of the foreign community, requires that professionals in the Algarve are preferably alert and trained about this reality, in the sense that the early detection of this condition guides their practices, says the organization of the event .
Maria José Passos, an oncologist with extensive experience in skin cancer, having been coordinator of the melanoma group at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Lisbon for many years, will chair the meeting.
