Fenprof disputes the study and says that the beginning of the school year is an example of a lack of teachers

The person responsible reacted to the ISCTE study and launched today by Edulog

Fenprof disagrees with the study that concludes that the difficulty in replacing absent teachers is the main reason for cases of students without classes, remembering that the school year began with a lack of teachers in schools.

«Right at the beginning of the year, on September 1st, there was a shortage of teachers in schools. I could say that there are still teachers on the list for these subjects, but they are teachers who live in Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real and who have their schedules in Lisbon or the Algarve, where it is prohibitive to be placed because they don't even have a salary. that allows them to do so,” the leader of Fenprof, Mário Nogueira, told Lusa.

The person in charge was reacting to the study by ISCTE and launched today by Edulog (a think tank of the Fundação Belmiro de Azevedo focused on the area of Education), according to which there is no shortage of teachers for permanent and annual placements, but rather difficulties in replacing teachers low.

Noting that he had not yet read the complete study, Mário Nogueira said he disagreed with this principle: «If that were the case, deficiencies would only arise throughout the year and that is not true», stated Mário Nogueira, noting that, at this moment, the number of students without all teachers, it is around 40 to 45 thousand, «much lower than at the beginning of the year, when it exceeded 100 thousand».
