Work was completed at the end of the year

The Municipality of Faro replaces, at the end of 2023, the lights on the walls of Largo de São Francisco, installing new LED lighting.

The contract, worth a total of 51.927 euros, plus VAT at the current legal rate, awarded to Sociedade Geração em Voga, included the acquisition of 200W LED projectors, the repair of protective grilles - including painting and placement of padlocks -, supply and installation of new protective grilles on the projector mounting bases, civil construction work and replacement of existing luminaires with LED.

This intervention, which involved the replacement of 45 luminaires, allows, according to the municipality of Faro, «an energy saving of 7,29 kW/H and a substantial improvement in lighting and security conditions and beautification of the walls of Largo de São Francisco as well as this entire historic area of the city».

To Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, «this is an intervention that allows the simultaneous response to several of the Municipality's objectives: very significant energy savings and gains in general sustainability, in line with the environmental commitments made to residents, but also the valorization and beautification of a historic area of the city in Faro».
