CCDR Algarve is present at a conference inspired by the Convention of Faro

International meeting will take place in Porto

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) will be present at the first edition of Faro Convention International Conference (FCIC24), which starts today and runs until February 2nd, at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto.

The conference is dedicated to “participatory processes in the management of cultural heritage, a central element of the Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (Convention of Faro), adopted by the Council of Europe in 2005».

CCDR Algarve will be represented at this meeting by archaeologist Frederico Tátá Regala, director of the Culture Unit, recently created, following the integration of the former Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve into its new organic structure.

Signed on October 27, 2005, “the Convention on Faro calls for the strengthening of public policies in the area of ​​culture, beyond the traditional dichotomy of “heritage/museums” and “cultural industries/artistic production”, and the creation of partnerships between the State and Civil Society for action on heritage cultural, involving educational activities, the scientific community and artists», according to CCDR Algarve.

The conference is organized by the UNESCO Heritage and the Reshaping of Urban Conservation for Sustainability Chair, supervised by Ana Pereira Roders and based at the Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), in the Netherlands, in partnership with the UNESCO Heritage, Cities and Landscapes Chair. Sustainable Management, Conservation, Planning and Design, supervised by Teresa Cunha Ferreira and based at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP).
