Castro Marim promotes gathering “Making menopause simple”

With book presentation with authors and medical experts

The Municipal Library of Castro Marim will host a gathering and presentation of Cristina Mesquita de Oliveira's new book, “Descomplicar a menopause”, on January 19th, at 18:00 pm.

The work will be presented by the author of the book, who also serves as president of VIDAs – Associação Portuguesa de Menopausa, followed by the gathering that will feature the participation of the gynecologist specializing in menopause Anne Gompel and the clinical and health psychologist Lara Mendes.

The launch of this book aims to «offer knowledge and combat myths and misunderstandings to help all women transform this challenging moment into an exciting and positive process».

According to the Municipality of Castro Marim, «it will be possible to find out what happens to a woman's body during the three phases of the menopause process, what to expect from it, the most common effects, why it manifests itself, the best ways of dealing with the situation and also guidance on the various treatments available, such as traditional and complementary medicine».

The mayor also highlights that «it is important to emphasize that menopause is not a disease, but rather a stage in a woman's life, like puberty, but which continues to be the target of prejudice and a lot of contradictory information».
