Castro Marim City Council transferred the facilities of the former Azinhal Primary School to the Azinhal Parish Social Welfare Association (ABESFA) to create a new daycare center for children up to three years old.
The Azinhal 1st cycle Basic School will be the subject of remodeling and adaptation works to transform the space, with candidate financing for the Recovery and Resilience Plan and investment from the Municipality of Castro Marim, with a draft lending contract having already been signed.
The management and development of this social response in Azinhal will be the responsibility of ABESFA, in collaboration with the Municipality and in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, with the main objectives being to contribute to reconciling family and professional life within the household and provide conditions for the child’s integral development, in an environment of physical and emotional security.
The school will have the capacity for eight children in nursery and a further 30 in classrooms, with the addition of a pre-school facility and the installation of a room with capacity for 12 children.
The building will be expanded and will house a nursery room, support areas, a reception/reception and distribution area for children, two new marching and activity rooms, areas allocated to staff and services, a pre-school room, the safeguarding the outdoor playing field, a playground with a covered and uncovered area and areas for management and administrative and technical services.
The opportunity to open this facility arises following the compulsory closure of a private daycare center that served several families in that abandoned parish, which has suffered from the systematic and accentuated loss of inhabitants.
According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, «this new equipment will be essential for the interior territory of the Municipality of Castro Marim, as there has been a substantial change in families and socio-demographic structures and a breakdown in the family and social support network. neighborhood, also contributing to the settlement of the population».
