A PSP agent from Faro, who was off duty, arrested this Thursday, January 18th, a 28-year-old young man who was trying to steal a moped.
While walking down the street, the officer noticed that two men were arguing.
Faced with this scenario, «he addressed those involved, identified himself as a police officer» and sought to end «the conflict», says the PSP.
It was possible to see that one of the men «was preparing to steal a moped parked on the public road, at which point he was intercepted by the owner, which led to an altercation between them», he adds.
Furthermore, the suspect had already stolen the battery from the moped, which was located and seized inside a vehicle, parked a few meters from the location.
The facts described led to the arrest of the suspect who, after being accused and providing a Term of Identity and Residence, was notified to appear at the Court of Faro.
